Problems with ati 4850

hello everyone im having trouble with my ati 4850 card, when i install the card and connect everything as im supposed to when i turn the pc on all lights and fans come on as they should but the monitor stays blank. I do hear a long beep about 5 seconds after the power is turned on. this is fishy because everything works perfectly when i install my GTX260. 🙁 i even tried booting without the HDD and cd drives just for the sake of trying.

my specs are:
4GB of G skill ram
e8400 core 2 duo
xfx nforce 7801 mobo
750W warlock PSU

any support would me appreciated. 😀

thanx for the reply, yeah its seated properly. i even screwed it down after installing it just to make sure i did everything properly.

Well, with the long beep and the test with a GTX 260, it sounds like the card is bad.

Do you also get the long beep with no card installed?

hello proximon after your reply i went ahead and did a test with no card inserted, turns out i got that same long beep 🙁 even tho the fan on the card came on it could still be dead?

Even though the fan comes on, the card can still be defective and fail to output a signal. The beep code is a sign of faulty hardware.

Yep you got a dud. Happens with any complicated electronic.
