Question Problems with bitlocker

Hi. I am trying bitlocker again after using it years ago. Trying to lock a 16G flash drive. It is stuck at 29.2%. What can I do? stop it and remove it?
What causes this?

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information. Is the system using Windows 7?

Make and model flash drive? Age, condition?

Look in Task Manager and Resource Monitor to see what is running or trying to run while stuck at 29.9%

Windows 7/64 Sandisk 16G.
I have fully formatted it already just now in order to try again. Maybe something wrong in some sectors of it.

I have bit locked this before under same OS.

Problem solved. A full format first.Took longer to format than to bit lock.
QUESTION: Can passwords be changed on these. It is always advisable to change your passwords isn't it?
