I just bought and installed a Kingston FURY Renegade M.2 NVMe 2TB Gen 4 with Heatsink to replace my old 512gb SSD.
My system is a MSI Mag B660m Mortar DDR4, Intel Core i5-12600K with 16gb ram and a 2080 graphics card. The system has been stable since my last upgrade and I never overclock anything.
Once I set up the Kingston disk and started to run a few games on it I experienced some critical issues. I currently play Assassins Creed Valhalla and Shadows and the game(s) can suddenly CTD with no warning. That in itself is not necessarily strange but what IS strange is I cannot restart the game and my Kingston partition suddenly disappears from partition managers (though I can still see it in windows explorer) and some folders are unable to be accessed.
I installed Kingston SSD manager and the disk showed up "healthy" and no firmware update needed. The temperature is around 40-50 degrees C. Once, however, one of the game crashes the SSD vanishes from the SSD manager as well.
The second strange thing is if I then restart windows my computer will freeze just before the MSI motherboard logo. If I turn off the power completely it restarts fine and the SSD shows up again in the SSD Manager and I can browse the files on it freely.
What could be the issue?
