I just installed a Corsair H55 liquid cooing kit in my pc and Im having a few problems. I put it together and hooked it up successfully but the problem is that there are two 3-pin plugs but my mobo only has two 4-pin connecters and one 3-pin connecter. More specifically, the 4-pin connecters are the CPU_Fan and the CHA_Fan. the PWR_Fan is the 3-pin one. I have no idea which plugs to put in either one or if I need some kind of adapter. The instructions say to connect the pump to any 4-pin or 3-pin connecter. However, when I gave it a shot I actually got the rotary fan to work (I plugged the circular mechanism into the CPU_Fan and the rotary fan into the CHA_Fan. it seemed like it was working but when I started my pcup I got an error message and my bios said that there was no CPU fan or whatever. It showed the heat bar thing in the red and the circular mechanism (the pump I assume/the thing sitting directly on top of the cpu) was very hot to the touch. As you can see im not sure what to do here.

1. which connecters do the 3-pin plugs go into?

2. is it normal for the pump to be that hot?

3. how do I fix the error message?

4. as a side note, should the heatsinks on the pump and the cpu be in contact with eachother? I was afraid that it would damage the cpu but after examining how my previos fan was installed it seems like they are supposed to touch or at least be very close.

Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated. I know it's a lot but I would really like for this to work

Solution
Firstly I recommend that the cable connected to the water block (the thing you put on your CPU) should be plugged into the CPU fan header. That way it should run at over 4000RPM. The 120mm fan can be either plugged into the CHA_Fan or PWR_Fan header depending on whats more convenient for you. This is how I have set-up up my H60 hydro series and this is what Corsair Recommend to set it up like.

Have a look at this video on how to install the H55 properly>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7aNeIlQssw

In regards to your other messages I do not know, can you boot up OK and get onto your desktop? maybe if you adjust the configuration of the H55 setup there will be no more error messages. I recommend you keep your cases side plate off for...

I recommend you keep your cases side plate off for this, I am not reliable for any screw up, this is just how I have setup my Hydro Series H60 and what Corsair recommend.

Solution

hey thanks for the response I got it working finally but now I ran into another problem. Now my speakers stopped working and I cant get them to work again. usually I can fix this on my own but the sound manager says the device isn't plugged in although the speakers are properly plugged in

have you got your speakers plugged into the front panel or the back panel were all the I/O are?

IF you have your headphones plugged in at the front then you may not have the HD audio front panel connector connected to the motherboard. Have you tried updating the drivers for the headphones?

the speakers are normally plugged in the back panel in the lime green input. I tried plugging in other speakers and headphones in both the front and back panels and still no luck. All my drivers are up to date as well. Would a system rollback to an earlier date help? I'm afraid to try it because I don't know if that would affect the new cooling device although I didn't have to get any software for it (I don't know if installing it would've automatically added anything into the system). would a rollback prior to installing the device screw up its functionality?

hmm there is a possibility but have you checked to see if the audio connector is connected to the audio header on your motherboard. plug them in and try adding them as a device in the control panel. If that does not work then Click on start, then control panel, then click on sounds and Audio devices, and choose what you are working with. If that does not work or you cannot find it then type "sound" into the start menu then click it, and then go onto recording. If you are still having problems type "find a fix audio playback problems".
