Problems with custom PC not waking up. Help!

So my issue is with my custom built PC going to sleep and then not waking up properly. I built this PC about two weeks ago and have had almost no problems with it other than this very strange and annoying problem. I will leave the PC for 30 minutes (which is the time I have set for it to go into sleep mode) and then when I come back, the case light is blinking slowly. I can press buttons on my keyboard and that will wake the keyboard up. I can press buttons on the mouse and the mouse will wake up. But nothing will actually wake the PC up to resume Windows 10. (And yes I make sure the monitor is on.) What is strange is when I click the power button on the case, it stops blinking and gives a solid light, but then it just shuts down. This is not good for the system so please help! Thanks.

Also, the PC's power setting is set to High Performance Mode, I had the same problem even when it was in Balanced mode.

MSI Gaming M5 Z170a Motherboard
Intel 750 400GB SSD
G.Skill Trident 16gb RAM
Windows 10 Home
Intel 6700k Skylake CPU
1000W PSU
MSI 980Ti

Check the BIOS to see what sleep/awaken states are.

It's possible your PSU doesn't support the proper wake from sleep states that the newer intel processors/motherboards have, what's it's EXACT make and model.

Thanks for the reply. You may be on to something as my PSU is an older one that I just transferred from a previous build. The PSU is an ABS Dark Beret series DB1000-M-BRZ.

Yeah, I can't see anywhere that it's Haswell certified/ready. it is a 6-7 year old design at this point as well, so it makes sense. This Antec is a good replacement, as you system only needs 410-450 watts.

But, before that, you may want to go into the BIOS and see what Sleep states you have available/disabled. Check your Mobo manual or just check out this video:

After adjusting the BIOS settings to wake up from USB devices (which was not turned on by default) it would still shut down completely. I tried another power supply that my friend let me borrow and it seemed to have fixed the problem. I had no idea that a power supply could cause a problem like that. Thanks again for helping me!

It's newer advanced sleep modes that Intel designed to save power when the computer wasn't in use, but also allow it to come back on quickly and with all the data still ready to go.
