Problems with detecting correct cpu

:x I am having problems setting up bios to get exact specs out of my cpu, and desperatly want help.

The story is i got what was sold to me as an Athlon 2000xp, when i put it into the pc and turned on the bios said Athlon 1250mhz, in cpu settings in bios it was originally set at 100 mhz fsb, i changed this to 133mhz (2xmultiplier) when rebooted the system hung and would not load up, i then reset the bios. i loaded up windows xp and the hardware showed as athlon 1.251ghz so i went to the manafacturers site installed a new bios and the bios now showed the cpu as a Pro2000 xp processor but i could not change any settings in bios on the cpu, windows says it is an athlon at 1.31ghz.

The bios indicates the motherboard is a pcchips m810lr-h but there are 12 types of the m810lr the only other info from the mobo i can get is on the bios chip IT8705F-0136-BXA-M4P020.

Any one have similar problems and can provide me with help

I tried that and it reported 1.33ghz amd but did not say anything about athlon xp 1500, i am going to remove the procesor to look at it but i was pretty sure that it was stamped 2000xp, the main issue is the bios giving me the option to change to 133mhz fsb but then hangs when rebooted, the duron 900 that came out of it was 133mhz fsb and the board is supposed to run both 100/133 ddr

this is the problem pcchips have so many revisions of the m810 i cannot be a hundred percent sure the original bios string was m810lr-h and when u go to the site this is m810lr rev 7.1 which the bios details says supports amd athlon 2000, but the bios will flash with other versions of the m810 bios, there seems to be no way i can be 100% right, i have sent emails to pcchipc with as much identifying details as possible but they don't respond

Ok so i pulled the pc apart and discovered that the mobo is a pcchips m810lr-h revision 5, i downloaded the latest bios for that mobo and installed, the bios detected the cpu as an athlon xp 1500+ but now is running at 133ddr.

But here is the kicker the cpu is stamped as AXDA2000DKT3C which according to the amd website is an athlon xp 2000+ which should run at 1.666ghz, i have used 2 amd utilities which show it as a clock speed of 1.333ghz,

I am totally stumped :?

some chipsets when you raise the fsb manually, they turn down the multiplier to get still the "correct speed"(wich sometimes its not )

try using 133 fsb, and manually cheking if the multiplier is correctly set.

ok the cpu clock is at 133mhz automatically, how do i manually set the multiplier, would that be in cpu setup in bios as there is nothing there

99.2 mhz fsb
199 rated speed
Core speed 1312.5mhz


Now this is the problem, the cpu is an athlon which has been confirmed by the bios and cpu-z, now athlons run at 133mhz ddr, why is mine running at 100, i have the option to change this in the bios but everytime i do it freezes.

The power supply has the abilty to +5v and +3.3v, yet there are only one set of connectors from power supply to motherboard currently connected, i have nowhere to connect the smaller 4 pin connector

ok so amd recomends a psu of +3.3 14a
+5 30a
+12 18a

Both the 3.3 and 5v stack up but my 12v only comes in at 10a do you think this is why i cannot change fsb to 133 without system hang

it sounds like more of an incompatability issue with your motherboard. Power is always the most important part of the system, so you may want to start there by getting a new one, but dont be suprised if you still have issues. It really sounds to me like the motherboard doesn't like the CPU

I probably think more of the lines that it is the power as i am only putting in a 2000 and pcchips reckon that the board will take up to a 2200,
