Hi,

I am having problems with a Epson 660.
The only thing I have made is update my OS, I had win98, with this
printer functioning without problems, I put Win2000
and there my problems began to happen.
Now I can print a "dir > lpt1", in a DOS windows, without problems,
but throught Win2000 prof, I can not print anything.
I only obtain weird symbols.
I have tested this printer in another PC with win98, and works fine,
with the same cable.
I tested with my bios setting: ECP, EPP and Normal, but nothing
happens.

I have a soyo K7VTA PRO.

TIA

The post did not confirm you installed a Win2K printer
driver from www.epson.com.

Where did you get the driver for the printer? If you are still using
the same one that you did with the WIn 98 operating system, that is
likely the problem.

Download and install the WinNT driver form the Epson website. That
should work with Win2000. Be sure to remove the older Win98 driver first.

Where did you get it from... was it an in-box driver that came with
WIN2000, or did you get it from Epson?

I got it from www.epson.com, win2000 driver.
I tested it with NT driver too, without success.

You have me then. The most common cause of a printer printer
"gibberish" is a wrong driver for that printer. Check that your cabling
is well connected and you are using good cables. Can you get a test
printer page from Windows 2000? Does it also look weird?

Are you sure Windows didn't try to load a in the box driver during
installation? I keep going back to there being a driver problem, due to
a conflict with another driver. The Epson driver usually has to be
loaded on it's own using it's own installation program package with the
driver.
