Recently my connection has been acting up and long story short, my motherboard had a bad Ethernet port and I was told an Ethernet adapter would work in place of it.

I ordered a "Plugable (brand name) USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter 10/100 Mbps" w/ ASIX (AX88179) Chip from Amazon.com. When I got it, I installed the driver from the included CD, plugged it in, and it worked fine for about an hour and a half. While I was downloading SC2 (14 GB) it just stopped working and hasn't work since. The ACT/LINK lights on the adapter don't even turn on.

Do you think amazon gave me a bad adapter or is it my computer? If it is a bad product can I return it and get a new one free? (w/o shipping cost because it's ridiculous)

My recent perdicament-

Do you have another computer you can test it with? Have you tried a different USB port? If you try it on another system and it doesn't work sounds like it died to me. I would try and return it because it's defective, if you return cost if too high pick one up from a local store so if it dies again you can just swap it out.

Yeah I've tried all the Ethernet ports. I installed the driver on my other computer and it worked so i tried uninstalling the re-installing the driver on the original computer and it still didn't work. On the second computer it said something like "New device connected, windows is searching for a driver" when I first put it in. On the original computer it didn't do that the second time I tried. Is it a matter of my computer not realizing the adapter is there?
