Problems with getting promoted

Hi! My character is the top guy in the thieves, the temple, the cult,
the fighters, the tong, and the mages, but I can't seem to find anyone
who'll promote me further in the Ashlanders, or the Blades. Who do I
see to get higher in those groups?

I haven't joined the Legion yet, because they sack you after a while if
you don't keep wearing their pitiful uniform. If I do wear it and
become the top guy in their group, (Knight of the Dragon, IIRC) will
they still sack me later on for no longer wearing it? I'd rather wear
my good stuff!

Don't know about your second questions, but I do know from former
posts here that I've seen that you can't advance in the Ashlanders or
the Blades (after Cassius...whatever his name is) is out of the
picture.

You can't, the higher ranks are not available to players at all.

No, they won't care what you're wearing once you outrank them
sufficiently. Note that only the breastplace counts as uniform and they
don't care what other armour you wear along with it. However, my
characters who go for that faction find and use the Lord's Mail, since
that counts as uniform. You can also buy a Duke's Guard Cuirass in a few
places, and that's fairly good heavy armour that also counts as uniform.
