Problems with GFWL

I have just bought GTA IV and Dirt 3, and GFWL is being a pain.it won't let me login in game as it wants to update, but the update fails everytime. I have tried everything like reinstalling, changing compatibility and port forwarding and nothing is working. Can anyone please help as I have been dying to play gta

If you haven't already, try uninstalling the GFWL client completely. Then go here and download the latest client:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient

This fixed a similar issue I was having trying to play Dark Souls on GFWL (before the SteamWorks version came out)

By completely uninstalling, I have uninstalled the marketplace client and the retributional and it still doesn't work
