Hi,
Can anyone help with this please. I'm running XP Pro patch too but not
including SP2 RC1.

I have a USB HP Photosmart 7260 printer and the only way I could get the
drivers installed
was to unclick every program in the startup section of msconfig.

However no matter what I try (and HP are unable to help) I can not turn my
printer off without
getting the blue screen of death. However should I boot the computer and
plug the power and USB
once my PC has booted I can turn the printer on and off on its front panel
without any problems
at all.

I have removed all USB posts in Device Manager and rebooted, manual cleaned
out the registry after
removing the driver for what seen sto be the 100th time but still the blue
screen of death if I turn the printer
off.

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE as next stop is the tip, and replace it with a Epson

Thank you for ANY assistance that you may be able to provide.

What's the error message on the blue screen?

Have you made sure your antivirus is up to date and run a virus scan? You
should also make sure there's no malware on your system that might be the
source of the issue, download, install and run Ad Aware:
www.lavasoftusa.com.

Check the event log for corresponding errors. Open Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, go to the various sections, look
for any errors that correspond to when this happens, double click the error,
the information contained within may give a clue as to the source of the
issue. If you cannot figure out the information, click the third button
down in that box, it will copy the information after which you can paste it
into a message box and maybe we can figure it out.

Make sure your other drivers are up to date as out of date drivers might
cause a conflict. One other thing to check, if you are plugging the printer
into a USB hub, try connecting it directly to a USB port on your computer as
some devices have problems with USB hubs. I have an HP multifunction
printer which goes unrecognized if I connect it through a hub as opposed to
a port on the PC.

Do you include Step 4 from my website or not? If you miss it out, all you
do each time is reinstall the corrupted drivers.
