Question Problems with Intel Quad Q6600

Welcome Everyone,

Since I bought my new CPU I'm having problems. I got from a Intel Duo 2 E7400 to a Intel Quad core Q6600. Since my new CPU my PC won't get to the boot screen. It's stuck on black screen and after 2 minutes my PC powers off.
My specifications are as follow:

• 120GB SSD
• 8GB RAM
• Nvidia Geforce 710GT 2GB MSI.
• Ewent Professional Power Supply 500W
• HP H ig41 uATX

This doesn't seem to support any of the 65nm CPUs from its era, just the 45nm ones. Motherboards in prebuilts aren't known for having wide compatibility.

That's why you don't look by motherboard and look by system model number as that's how you'll find other people that have gotten things to work.

Depending on the system, I know the q6600 will work with certain HP prebuilts because I have parts for a retro build that's based on a HP dx2300.

Sorry , I will close this thread. I found by my model number that my CPU has no support on this mother board. Thanks for replying!

Not so fast--share that model number. Because generally HPs and Dells can do far more than their specs officially state. I have 256GB of LRDIMMs in my HP z420 that was supposed to only be able to max out to 32GB on ECC UDIMMs.
