Hi all.
I recently got at Maximus VIII Hero motherboard which I installed with some new ddr4 ram and my Samsung 850 pro ssd.

I have done a clean install of Windows 10 and installed the motherboard drivers and everything else and now come the problem. When I am running for instance Diablo III on my machine it starts up fine and runs for some time 7-9 minutes. Then my screen freezes and I can't even use the restart button. I have to push and hold the start button to have the machine shut down. When I try to start the pc again it just hangs on the boot screen and I can see on the light on the motherboard that it hangs on the boot disc whis is the Samsung disc.

I have been in contact with Asus that tells me that they have had some problems with my disc and the motherboard and that I should update bios on the motherboard and the firmware of the disc. I have done both and the problem is still there. I have also tried to have the Samsung disc connected to the asmedia ports on the motherboard but the result is the same.

Does anyone have any kind of experience with this and perhaps found a solution. Asus says it is something with Samsung, and Samsung says it is something with Asus. So I am kind of stuck here.

My total system besides the two others consist of:
8 GB corsair vengeance ram
I5-6600K processor
And an extra backup disc.

No it didn't work. After spending many hours in trying to resolve this, and also buy a new graphic card to se if that was the solution I came to the conclusion that it must have been the motherboard. And quite correctly when installing the brand new motherboard everything worked fine. I did however chose another one than the Maximus motherboard because several persons told me that it was not good, and that they have had other huge problems with the Maximus series.
So if you have problems I am guessing that it is the motherboard that is causing them.
I will try to install Windows on another drive to see if it helps. I have however been having the ssd installed in my former system wit our any problems at all. Problems only came when switching the motherboard so perhaps it should RMA that instead?

Did it work? I have the same problem.

What motherboard did you get instead? And have you had any issues at all with your new one?
