Hello,
I have a pretty good new gaming laptop with following specs:
intel i7 6700HQ
8gb ram
gtx 960m
When i play vanilla minecraft, i can play at high settings @ 120 fps. But when i fire up the modpack my friend has a server on via curse/twitch, my game runs at 9-12 fps. (Forge launcher, Project Ozone 2 modpack)
I think that this is not normal and i can't seem to fix it. I already checked if there was malware on my pc and AVG found nothing. When i play, my CPU usage is 25% and i don't even hear my laptop cooler spinning.
Please help

Large mod packs often require a lot of RAM. Try allocating more to minecraft, it only has one GB by default. Do this by opening the launcher, choosing launch settings on the top bar, and in JVM arguments, change that number one followed by a G to the number of gigabytes you wish to allocate. Just don't give it too much, your OS needs something.

Here's how to tell: press f3 in game. Near the top right corner there will be a line of text that reads "mem: [a percentage]".If that percentage is near 100, and you have enough system RAM, give it some more.
To see if you have a hardware bottleneck, run something like NZXT CAM (my favorite) or HWiNFo64 and look at the loads for CPU, GPU and RAM. If any of the are 100, you have a bottleneck. If non of them are 100 and you have bad performence anyway, you have the same problem as me and I havn't been able to fix it.

The problem could be you've allocated too much ram, and there isnt enough for the rest of your system. You've allocated 6GB out of ur 8GB, try lowering it to only 3-4GB. This may fix your issue.

That might be due to your resolution being set too high by accident. On windowed mode minecraft will always run at your native desktop resolution, but in full screen it will run on the resolution set in your launcher (or if you have optifine in your video settings). Check to see if the resolution in your launcher is set to a crazy number like 3600x2560 or something

I tried that on the Optifine launcher and it didn't help at all. Also on the Forge modded version, there is no vignette option at all.

I found out that the game was running on intel HD grapgics (facepalm) but the only problem is fullscreen, i have 100 fps in windowed (fullscreen window) but about 20 in fullscreen. Now my gtx 960m is running at 100% and CPU at 50%, game says ram usage is around 50% of 5 GB. everything is fine and ok but the fullscreen mode.
