I am hoping someone can tell me if I have done all I can do to see if my card is bad. Or should I just return it?
I recently bought a GTX card. I had a problem installing it, it said it could not load the driver software and ended up installing a standard VGA driver on it. I finally got it to update on the GeForce site. Drivers are all up-to-date.
The next problem was that my new HDMI cable would not display graphics correctly. I swapped in my older DVI cable and it seemed to clear up the graphics. But it was a new cable, never used. I haven't yet tried a different HDMI cable that I know works, but that is the next step in my checklist.
The most recent problem is that my video display will often not come out of sleep mode. The computer wakes up, but the video is still asleep, with my monitor blinking as if in sleep mode. This also happens occasionally from a cold start-up (as opposed to a reboot).
In both instances, I might have to reboot 3 or 4 times before I get the one beep in POST for a clean boot. The error gives me one long, and 3 short beeps.
I updated my BIOS to make sure this was not the problem.
I ran FURMARK on it for a good 45 minutes and it seemed fine. It never got above 62deg C. The second fan on the card (an MSI GAMING card) usually does not spin up, unless the temp goes above about 56deg C.
NOTE
I dont know if this makes a difference, but my Power Supply has a 6-pin power connector, with an attached 2-pin connector.

I plugged in all 8 pins on my GPU (using the 6 and 2 pin cables) ... or should I use the 6-8pin adapter that came with the GPU and only use the 6-pins?
SOLUTION??
So I will try out another HDMI cable, one that I have confidence will work.
Other than that, is there anything else I can do?
Are all of these problems related, or could they all be explained as separate issues.
Does this sound like a bum card, or am I doing something wrong?
