I posted earlier and accidentally chose a solution and didn't mean to. I just bought G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000). and it runs at 11-11-11-31, mine that i have in my computer are running at 11-11-11-30. In my BIOS and in my system info it shows that i have 16gb installed, but only 7.46 available.
OS- Windows 8.1
CPU- Intel Core i7-4790K
GPU- GTX 970 4gb EVGA Superclocked
RAM-G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 2133MHz Ripjaws Series
MOBO- ASUS Z97-c
Case- Raidmax Seiran II
PSU- 800w high power psu
HDD- 1tb Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-08M2NA0
SSD- 120gb KINGSTON SV300S37A120G
ODD- HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40
I am not sure why it picks up the ram but i am not able to actually use it.

All RAM must be set in the BIOS to the same speed and timings.

Adding another set may require that those timings be relaxed.

Two different sets of RAM are not guaranteed to work together

Make sure 1 set is the the black slots and 1 set in the dark gray slots

Can you list the exact model number of each set ? The fact that they have slightly different timings may indicate that the modules on the stick may be of different manufacturer and that is oft problematic.

OK so .... we have the color coordinated and same speed but little else.

Speed: 2133
Cas Latency: 11
Voltage: 1.5V – 1.6V
Timing: 11-11-11-30
Model #: F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL
Item #: N82E16820231468

Speed: 2133
Cas Latency: 9
Voltage: 1.6V -1.65V
Multi-channel Kit: Dual Channel Kit
Timing: 9-11-11-31
Model #: F3-2133C9D-8GXL
Item #: N82E16820231689

Your new set is CAS 9, 1st set is CAS 11....

1. After making sure ya have each set in the same color slot, take out the new set and reboot to BIOS, set all BIOS settings to default save and exit

2. Using HWiNFO64 , look at the system summary RAM timings, write down all the settings

3. Turn off and put in new set

4. Reboot to BIOS and

Set DRAM voltage to 1.6
Set timings to what you wrote down from step 2

5. Save and exit

See if it works ... if it does then try and reduce voltage to 1.575

6. If it doesn't work, open HWiNFO64 and see if all sticks are listed... look at the 1866 and see how they measure up.

I am wondering, if my best option would be to just return the ones i have in exchange for matching ones of the ones i already had? or can i make this work good enough?
