Problems with my Switch.

Hello. In my setup I have an Xbox One console, and of course my computer. I bought a Linksys SE3005 Gigabit Switch (5 port) and tried to connect it.

It doesn't work.

What I did was send an ethernet cable to the switch from the modem, and connected my devices to the switch using an ethernet cable, per linksys support instructions.

My problem is that when I have them both on, only one works at a time. Right now my PC ethernet is working, and the xbox isn't. if I unplug the PC and leave the xbox in to try to get xbox to work, I have to unplug the modem, and let it restart- then the PC doesn't connect.

Any suggestions to fix?

U need a router not a switch

A modem serves up one and only one IP address. To the first device it sees.
For multiple devices, you need a router, not a switch.
