Question Problems with new CPU when gaming ?

I seem to be having issues with my new AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT.

A couple of weeks ago my computer began to run really slow all of a sudden. Processes were taking about 10 minutes to load, one after the other, the cursor lagged and stuttered, everything lagged really. After trying a few things to fix it, I ended up swapping out my 5500, which had been working fine for about a year, to my old 2600 and that seemed to finally solve the issue.

So I sent the seemingly defective 5500 back to the store and bought a brand new Ryzen 5600XT with the store credit they offered me. I just got it today and installed it and to my immediate disappointment I had the exact same issues I had with my 5500. I've since updated my BIOS and CPU drivers to the latest version, reset my BIOS through removing the CMOS, enabled XMP and now my PC is running better than ever
except when I start gaming.

My games run fine at first, then begin to stutter, then get much worse until it just freezes and eventually crashes, all within maybe up to 10 minutes. All games seem to do this making them quite unplayable. Any help anyone can provide will be appreciated.

check temperatures of CPU and GPU
did you repaste before installing the cooler? which cpu cooler are you using?
did you reinstall or reset windows with the new CPU?
Did you freshly install GPU drivers?
which BIOS version is now installed? current would be F66g

I just started up Baldur's Gate 3 to check the temps and I've been playing for a while now without issue. I don't know if this is a fluke or if the issue has resolved itself or what, but here's the info requested anyway just in case you can give me any advice:

The GPU seems to stay at 34°C. The CPU is at around 45°C normally. I noticed it get up to 85°C when it had the issue and up to 96°C now.

I'm using the AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler it came with. The cooling fan had paste applied to it.

I have not reinstalled or reset Windows.

I last installed the newest GPU driver about two weeks ago when I first had the issue with my 5500.

My BIOS version is F66g.

did you remove the foil which covers the thermal paste of the cooler plate as well?

Did you reset the BIOS by jumper clrCMOS (or similar naming)
I don't believe it had foil on it. I touched the pasted part lightly and got some on my finger.

I reset the BIOS by removing the battery for a few moments. I don't know what you're referring to by jumper cirCMOS.

manual:
18) CLR_CMOS (Clear CMOS Jumper) Use this jumper to clear the BIOS configuration and reset the CMOS values to factory defaults. To clearthe CMOS values, use a metal object like a screwdriver to touch the two pins for a few seconds.• Always turn off your computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before clearingthe CMOS values.• After systemrestart, go to BIOS Setup to load factory defaults (select Load Optimized Defaults) ormanually configure the BIOS settings (refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," for BIOS configurations)

repaste the cooler

any overclocking tools installed or overclocked in bios iteslf?
