Problems with new Forum

I am enjoying the new Forum but I have a couple of questions.
First, after logging in the upper right hand corner still shows "Log In" until I go to a thread.
Also, the left margin will not expand to show my threads, etc until I go to one of the current threads..

This is very confusing.

Why do I have to go to a thread before I look "totally logged in".

I have noticed this too. When I'm on Forum List after log in the log in / register links still show and once I open a forum or a thread it changes to how it should be after log in.

That even takes some time and refreshing. Sometimes I have to do a Ctrl + F5 to see changes.

This happens after posing too. My post doesn't show up for some time and after a while or a few refreshes they show up.

I'm guessing maybe databases still indexing stuff and after the forum transitions phase is over it would be more 'real time'.

What browser are you on? Could you provide screenshots?

I'm on Firefox 65.0.1 64-bit. Only one add-on installed (if that might be relevant) called Dark Reader which changes theme to dark at the click of a button which currently off for TH. Doesn't affect how the log in delay thing works though.

I tried it a few times and can now confirm what gdmaclew said.

The "The active user has changed. Reload the page for the latest version" notification/dialog appears only after opening a forum or thread following log in. After that. if you refresh, the login/register links are replaved by user/inbox/alerts links.

Not sure if this is how it's intended to be in the new forum, but I'd say wouldn't normal behavior of the page/code be to refresh the page and provide 'the latest version' after the user logs in? It's like this anywhere you log in, be it email or web/browser-based services or gaming platform etc.

Looks like it's fixed this morning. (Firefox 64-bit 65.0.1)

There is one other issue I forgot to mention.

On the old forum if you clicked on Tom's Hardware anywhere on the page it would take you back to Tom's Home Page.
If you do that now it takes you back to the Tom's Forum Home page.
I liked it better the old way.

This is not intentional and will be fixed, but it's probably fairly low on the list of priorities.

Would you please fix the Forum Home page so that after logging in, it no longer shows the "Log In" prompt in the upper right hand corner.

It's still the same for me on Firefox 65.0.2 64-bit.

Logged in right now (obviously) and it's the same. forum homepage shows login/register link despite a logging in. It only changes after I open another forum/thread.
