Hello Tom's Hardware community, I have recently tried to fix the computer of my friend due to her accidentally pressing delete on some of her partitions when she wanted to format them instead while installing Windows 7, I have tried everything I know and still didn't have any luck making it work, so I'm looking for sugestions on what to do.

Hi
Hi

Well Try the above mentioned gparted to see if it can create the logical drive (& format it) for you.

BUT you need a backup of all critical data before you start as there is always a risk when you try to repair or create partitions

Another alternative is TestDisk from www.CGsecurity.org which may be able to re create the partition /logical drive entry

Hi

Are you trying to do a clean install of windows 7 ?
Only do this if there is no useful data on any partition which is not backed up

Get a copy of gparted.iso which is a linux disk image with a partition editor
Available as a iso for burning to cd and instructions for putting on a usb stick

Boot up gparted and remove (all) partitions before booting from win 7 install disk to do clean install

Looking at the disk management view the last partition seemes to be the windows c: partition (in a logical partition ) and needs to be removed then the secondary partition removed before the free space can be made available for a new partition

Thanks Mike for the response, I am not trying to reinstall Windows 7 as it is already on the system, I'm just trying to find a way to make the free space into a partition, again, thanks for trying to help.
