Hello,

I have recently picked up a Lenovo Y50 for school, and am getting around to playing some games on it. I have the UHD 4K version of the laptop and really like the upgraded resolution. However, when I want to play a game, GTA V for example, and I run the game in 1920x1080, the game appears in a small box in the center of the screen. I have tried switching windows to 1920x1080 and still get no luck. I cant really play games like this and I really want to see what this thing can do. If I switch the resolution in GTA V to 4K I do get it in full screen, but the laptop cannot run it.

Specs (if needed):
Lenovo Y50 UHD
Windows 8.1
16 gbs ram
500 gb SSD
i7-4720HQ
GTX 960m 4gb

Thanks for the help!

Solution
Hello,
I fixed mine by going to Intel HD Graphics Control Panel (Yes INTEL not nVidia), then Display -> Scaling -> check "Scale Full Screen".

I hope this fix your issue.
Yes, I do run the game on fullscreen mode. The problem I have been having is the game will switch to fullscreen, but will leave black borders around the edges of the screen. I have read online that windows has trouble with 4k monitors and scaling. Those online say I can just switch windows to 1080p and be fine, but I still get the black borders.

I couldn't get the window to resize, however I was able to turn on windowed borderless and then switch the windows resolution to 1080. I then get full screen. This is kind of annoying to have to do, I wish it would just resize when i'm on 4k.

Sorry for the late reply!
I tried this, but under scaling, there is no other option besides "Maintain Display Scaling"

Hello,
- Make sure you have latest version of Intel Display Drivers "https://downloadcenter.intel.com/" and NVidia drivers.
- Switch your windows resolution to 1920x1080
- Restart or sign-out
- After that go to Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, Display -> Scaling -> check "Scale Full Screen"
