Hey guys,
I am a new to tomshardware but this is the first place i thought i would ask. So i just built a new PC with these specs:
Gigabyte Aorus B650 Elite AX motherboard
Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU
MSI Gaming X Trio 4070 Ti GPU
2TB Samsung 980 pro m.2 nvme SSD
32 gb (2 sticks) g.skill trident Z5 RAM
Noctua NH-U12A cooler
NZXT H9 Flow Case
MSI 1000w PSU (ATX3.0)
I have had this build running for 3 days. On the first day I ran a userbenchmark, and the CPU was performing at the 15th percentile i didnt think much of it at the time. I ran another one today, and i noticed that a strange sound almost like coil whine of some sort emanating from my pc but only during the CPU bench portion. My CPU gets hot very fast and then caps out at around 79-80C, and when i got the results it was the 1 percentile (102% where as before i got 115%). I did it again thinking it was a fluke and got a 0% same coil whine noise. I booted up Rust and have not exceeded 65C while playing, and havent heard any coil whine or weird noise, and it seems to be performing good, but this really freaked me out. Is my CPU dying? Did userbench kill it? What should i do? any help or even speculation would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and a footnote:
the other thing i noticed is that my max core clocks on core#2 was 5700! which i belive is way too high. Screenshots of CPUID below:
