Current machine is 8 years old - won't run Windows 11 so designing a new one. Currently using Samsung EVO drives - never had a problem.

I want to go to a 990 PRO PCIe® 4.0 NVMe® SSD 2TB" but I've seen many discussions about problems with these drives. Have they been fixed??? - Thanks for your input - Marty

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I'm currently using a 2TB version of the 990 Pro, no issues whatsoever. If you're referring to the issues from years past, that was resolved if you updated the firmware upon dropping it into your system. Unless you're referring to another issue, I'm unaware of. A link would help guide me/us to the concern you have.

Moved thread from Memory section to Storage section.

990pro had firmware issues in the beginning where drive health would incorrectly report as declining within days or weeks of use. That was a particular batch though. Has long been fixed through firmware update. I bought 990pro when it was released in late 2022 and when the issue was raised in early 2023 i checked drive health and was still at 100%. I updated firmware anyway. All drives sold now will have the updated firmware.

The problems I was referring to were the ones mentioned by boju. As indicated these are no longer a problem with the current drives.
Thanks for the input - waiting for a sale - Marty

What is your 990pro Health % now?
Does it come with Samsung heatsink?
Did you add 3rd party heatsink?

I bought Samsung 990pro (no heatsink) on feb 2024 firmware that it comes with is 3B2QJXD7, CrystalDiskInfo shows Health Status 100% on feb 2024, and I did not update firmware and use it for 10 months without checking it again.

After 10 months CrystalDiskInfo shows Health Status 91% now, I just updated to latest firmware 4B2QJXD7 and it is still 91%. Hope this latest firmware can let it maintain 91% for a longer time, I think I got a bad disk, dropped 9% in 10 months.

Still at 100%. I just play games though, no heavy data transfers, limited pf size.

I have three 990 Pro's. All work fine. Really great storage. However just for fun I would like to put a newer PCIe5 drive though its paces. Some fast EXPENSIVE stuff. Like when M.2 drives were new. Probably won't be able to tell the speed difference.

How long have you been using your three 990Pro? What is the health % now?
Thanks.
Very new, low millage, Had magician installed but didn't check before pulling the 990's out. My Asus X670E-F has WiFi driver issues. The board was returned. Replaced (when it gets here) with a Gigabyte X870 gaming WF6. Wifi 7 available however, WiFi 7 something I do not need. The 870 should be here the 9th.
