Hello,
Yesterday I posted a question about socket7 and socket370 processers. I mentioned I am getting a processer upgrade for my computer. Now I would like to know if I get a 400mhz upgrade will that 400mhzs be added on to the 250mhz I already have. I want to get Kingston's TurboChip 400 for mt Compaq Presario 2286.

Thnks

Does it really make sense to buy this chip? How much more would it cost you to run down to Fry's and pickup a cheepy E-PC? Even if you toss out the silly INTERNET rebate, you can still get an 550-800mhz pc with ram and decent hard drive for around $300.

You could still use your current monitor so no need there.

I dunno, but those "UPGRADE" chips are usually a let down for most folks.

According to THIS page, you can set your voltage for the K6-2 and for 75MHz. You don't need an expensive overdrive. Simply purchase a K6-2 450 for around $30 (check pricewatch.com), and set it to 2x, which will be interpreted as 6x by the CPU. When your bus is set at 75MHz, that gives you 450MHz.
