Procedural Graphics Card Comparison

Hi guys!

Hopefully this is not a silly question. Had a question about GPUs for Houdini. Which would be more beneficial for Houdini’s procedural effects. Currently running I9-7940x with a 1080ti. Was looking at SideFX’s website and 1080ti isn’t on the supported GPU list. I have been contemplating getting a Quadro and running Houdini and Real Flow with that. Then use my 4k monitor with the 1080ti. Or will the 1080ti be sufficient enough even though it was meant for consumer gaming?

While the 1080 is not meant for "pro" work like the Quadros, it is still a fast card. You may want to check with the support or forums on the SideFX site for any benchmarks or known benefits with a Quadro vs standard card.
