Hello,

I have been experiencing freezes on my PC for a number of years now and could not attribute the cause of them, until I decided to look into the processor. Long story short, I completely replaced my old build (which worked without any issues) with newer parts which was when the freezes started occurring. One by one I reverted back to my old configuration.. with the exception of the processor. All of this time it never occurred to me that it might be incompatible with my mobo. I found out that apparently a Q9450 does not mesh with a 680 i LT motherboard. I no longer have my old processor either, an E8400 to reinstall.

Short of replacing either my processor or mobo, can anything be done in the BIOS settings to remedy the problem? Thank you in advance.

Edit: I have the option of using a Q6600 processor which by the looks of it seems compatible.

Despite both processors being socket 775 all of my queries for "680i LT with Q9450" came back with negative experiences. Don't know what it is about it that renders it so unstable. I will probably replace with the Q6600 but I'm hoping to get some better insight before I do so.
