Processor only uses 2 cores instead of 6

Hello!

So 've recently upgraded my computer, I'm having a blast with running games that I couldn't usually play before such as For Honor, Minecraft at above 20 frames and a few others, but I'm now having trouble with my cores. My processor seems to be only using two cores instead of the six I have, my old processor only used two as well.. even though it is a quad processor.

When I open Task Manager, it says I'm only using one core. When I first saw this I thought to myself "What?" so I whipped open Logical processors and it only shows two... I've searched everywhere but found nothing, so I asked my friends, some say that I should reinstall windows, but others say It may simply be because my computer doesn't want to use them (But I do want it to use them because every time I load something I'm stuck on 100% CPU usage or when I'm mid-game, it skyrockets to 100% CPU usage for what seems to be no reason.

I've spent quite a while to pay for my computer so I don't want it to go to waste.

Here're a screenshot of my Speccy, Task manager and Device manager
(Msconfig only shows 2 cores aswell)

Solution
Your CPU should show up as 12 logical cores ALL THE TIME ,software might only use a few of them but they should always show, there is a thing called core parking that puts core to sleep when not in use but that should not influence the number of cores shown in task manager.

You can try telling msconfig to use all cores
https://www.google.gr/search?q=msconfig+all+cores
If that doesn't work installing windows again should do the trick.

All of the above assumes that you did not mess with the bios settings,if you did then you have to start there.

Heyo, so msconfig also says I have 2 cores.

How would I go about a fresh Windows install? Will it remove everything I have on my pc like a factory reset? Will I need a usb? Will I need to buy Windows again? Also once and if I do finish the Windows install, will my cores automatically show?

Did you follow one of the guides to allow all cores in msconfig and then reboot?

For some reason, msconfig showed 2 cores for the last 3 days. but today, when i turned my computer on and then I loaded msconfig, it showed 12. I instantly restarted my computer and now I am sitting happily at 3% cpu usage.. ty guys :))))))
