Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on WOuld it be worth it to get the new i7-4790k and upgrade from the 4770k i already have? while keeping the same mobo?

Solution

Will if you do upgrade to single card from your 760, then those options can get pretty expensive. 760 sli can outperform a 780ti or tie with it in most games...

im going to SLI my 760 when i get some downtime fromw worl :) already got the 2nd i picked up my new case ( corsair 760t), still debating if i want to keep the 760s or go with a 770 or something equivilant. any suggestions? and a friend of mine works for micro center has the 4790k, but wasnt pleased either so offered it to me at a lower price ( $200) any suggestion on gaming monitor sub $150??

For gaming, definitely keep the 760s. Once you test them out you will see a massive difference in performance.

A monitor around $150 would let you only see up to 60fps with the 760 sli, so just know if you want to actually see fps over 60 you would need to get a 120+Hz monitor. Those start from $230.

With that being said here's an IPS monitor around $150 :

If you don't mind the looks of this monitor, it's a good deal:

The $200 price on the i7 is a great deal, you could buy it and resell it for a decent profit.

would a 60hz monitor be better than a 120hz TV? (same price)

TV's in general aren't good for gaming on, and it doesn't actually display 120Hz. Instead the image is interpolated, and you would end up with more input lag compared to a 60Hz monitor.

Alrighty, thanks for the input!!! On a Side Note Besides the Processor swap, would there be another mobo (from asrock) i could upgrade or swap to without a fresh install?

Why do you need to swap the motherboard?

If you are going to swap to the 4790k then your current motherboard will support it with a bios update.

I went kinda cheapo on the mobo at the time. Don't think it fairs well with higher overclocks. And dont like the way it looks in the 760t
