Well embarrassingly enough, I'm running an Intel Mobile Celeron 900 processor rated 2.2ghz. I was thinking about upgrading the processor if it isn't soldered in.

Specs of the laptop: From CPUZ
Processor 1 ID = 0
Number of cores 1 (max 1)
Number of threads 1 (max 1)
Name Intel Mobile Core 2 Solo
Codename Penryn
Specification Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz
Package (platform ID) Socket P (478) (0x7)
CPUID 6.7.A
Extended CPUID 6.17
Core Stepping R0
Technology 45 nm
Core Speed 2194.4 MHz
Multiplier x FSB 11.0 x 199.5 MHz
Rated Bus speed 798.0 MHz
Instructions sets MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, EM64T
L1 Data cache 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size
L1 Instruction cache 32 KBytes, 8-way set associative, 64-byte line size
L2 cache 1024 KBytes, 4-way set associative, 64-byte line size
FID/VID Control no

Hewlett Packard bios version F.65

I was thinking about upgrading to a T6400 or P7550. I am just worrying about BIOS and MOBO compatibility with the two chips. I also know that the FSB is rated to 800mhz, and the P7550 has a 1066mhz FSB, would there be any performance losses, or should I just stick with the T6400?

Its PGA478, i doubt its soldered as that CPU doesn't support the BGA.

That upgrade depends on if the bios supports it and if the chipset supports it.

I doubt it would work but it might, you can buy a cheap CPU on Ebay and try it.

Any way I could check that compatibility? I know the processor in there now is running on the Penryn architexture and the processor I want to upgrade to is as well, the major difference is the 900 is single core while the upgraded one is dual core.
