Processor upgrade for sony vaio

Can i upgrade my sony vaio processor from i5-3230M,intel HM76 express chipset to any i7 compatible processor.If can,what i7 model should i pick?

You'd only be able to upgrade the processor if it's a socketed model; you can find out if this is the case by running CPU-Z on your laptop and seeing if it reads as Socket 988B rPGA. If it does, you can pop a Core i7-3540M in there; that's the best processor that'll boost performance while not overheating like crazy.
