Processor Vs. Graphics Card Compatibility

Hello, so I have finally decided to make the jump and get a new gtx 680 classified edition. I am aware that good gpu's should be paired with capable cpu's to ensure peak performance. I planned on upgrading my amd 6 core processor to an amd 8 core. My question is will that be enough? My motherboard does not support dell so I will have to switch it out along with getting a new cpu.
Note: I DON'T care if the cpu will bottleneck on cpu intensive game(I tend to stray away from them). I am wondering if the cpu will be able to keep up with the graphics card i'm throwing at it. I also don't plan on overclocking either of them.

Guessing you have a AMD? 6xxx? and going to a 8xxxx? If so you'll be fine 😉

Thanks buddy would you personally recommend switching the motherboard and getting intel? or is the amount of performance increase I would get not worth the hassle?

What all do you do with the rig, is it pretty strictly gaming?

Yes but I also enjoy programming? I'm not very good at it otherwise I would be pumping out million dollar ideas with my titan Z gpu 😉. Anyway yeah it's mostly for gaming so I just worry about a amd 8 core being able to handle cpu intensive games.

You'll see big gains with an Intel depending on the games you play, plan to play. Programming prob not so much. I've got a pretty powerful AMD rig (in sig) but seldom use it compared to the Intel rigs
