product key no longer working after reset

I did a reset on windows 8.1, because it was slow, I found out later it was a ram issue instead of a software issue. but now my product key no longer works. I used it for since nov/17, I was doing updates, no issues. now when I input the key I am told it is not valid. I tried the smartphone tool and the phone validation and no luck. I also tried the slmgr/upk, /ipk, /ato commands that did not work either
anyone have a solution for this.

I got it from eBay, just says it's not valid

Then it may well be "not valid".

Buying licensed software from fleabay is always a bad idea. How many times did he sell that same license key?
Yes, a license may pass on initial install. But later, during an update or if you have to reinstall....not valid.

Only a few avenues open to you now:
Get your money back from the ebay seller (not likely)
or
Call MS and talk to a human. Throw yourself on their mercy.
or
Put this in the "Bad Idea" column, and cut your losses. Buy a valid license, from a known retailer.
