I recently upgraded to a 3TB HDD (Toshiba P300) and now i've noticed when when i boot into windows 10 and my desktop appears, all programs installed to that hard drive have blank icons (like when a file has an unassigned icon or program). This lasts for about 30 seconds or more until it finally loads the propery icons and the programs can be accessed.

I have no idea what is causing this as i have formatted my computer, both drives, and reinstalled windows to see if it was an issue with the fact that i cloned my previous hdd to the new drive.

The only difference i can see is that i have to have the new drive as a GPT drive and not an MBR, and when i initialize the drive in Disk Management it flashes asking me what i want to do with the removable drive....even though it's not a removable drive. Am i on the right track?

There are multiple versions of the P300 so I couldn't tell which you had. Have you checked to see if you have latest drivers?

both drives? how many you have installed? did other one ever have windows on it?

what make/model is the 3tb drive?

its possible your motherboard has a hot swappable capability, that may explain why disk management sees it as removable. Win 10 would have insisted on GPT when you fresh installed, that won't explain speed.
