First time posting. I couldn't really find a 100% appropriate place to put this problem so I put it here because that is what is wrong.

A few months back I lost my main hard drive and all the data from it. I had all of my music, games and whatnot on there. I've since recovered basically everything and am finally now trying to re-install Itunes because I very much enjoy the way music is organized through the program.

The problem I am having though, is that the control panel is still showing Itunes as being installed on my computer, even though I had it on the dead hard drive which is no longer plugged in, or usable. So I was wondering if there is anyway to force it off, or am I just screwed and have to find another way to organize my music?

Also for the record I am on Win10 32bit. Thank you for your time.

only thing I would guess would be to delete a registry entry for it.

!!!!!registry settings are important!!!! I strongly recommend making sure you have a backup. what I tell you below wont mess up you computer but if you accidently change anything else your os may not boot

if you don't have a back up of your computer do it now anyways. you learned a hard drive can fail at any time.

then

hit windows logo and type "regedit" and run that program (registry editor)

go to "hkey_local_machine"
then "software"
then "apple computer, inc."
right click on "iTunes" folder and select delete

close program reboot your pc. then see if you can install

I had to wait for my new hardrive to get here before I could try anything. I should probably clarify a bit better, just in case. I tried both of these methods without any luck.

I am attempting to install itunes on my C: drive. Previously it was on my D: drive (the one that failed). For now i'll say the folder it was in was "Folder X". What is happening now when I try to install it is that it comes up with an error while installing saying "The folder path 'folder x' contains an invalid character" The problem is that from what I know there should be no reason other than for whatever reason it still detects files in that folder x, even though the drive is no longer plugged in or (to the best of my knowledge) a part of my system anymore. So what I should probably have asked in the first place is might there be something else I can do to remove what remains of my drive from my system?

Once again thank you for your time.
