Programs move to alternate monitor when sleeping

I have two BenQ GW2765 monitors. I recently connected them via display port after having them on DVI/HDMI.

With one monitor on Display port and the other on something else, programs on the Display port connected monitor move to the other monitor when they go to sleep.

If I connect both monitors via display port not only do the programs move to the other screen, they are set to very small size.

I have tried the solution posted here, but it did not work...

There seems to be a way to work around this with a third party application as shown here, but I'd rather avoid having to install additional programs. Otherwise I'll have to go back to my HDMI/DVI combination.

Of course, I've tried various nVidia driver releases, but this did not fix the problem. It seems to be Display Port specific.

Does anyone know of a fix?

I'll answer my own question

This is a limitation of DisplayPort. If you have multiple monitors then DisplayPort is not a good choice.
