Programs to download on new android phone?

I just got myself the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (upgraded from an iPhone 4) and I don't know android at all. What should I get? What should I avoid? How do I keep it safe from viruses and such? Really I just need help on my transition to android for the first time.

i use dr. web light for a virus scanner on my phone. i never had any peoblem with vvirusues or malware. normally the only risk of getting a bad virus or malware is if you try to install an android app you got from somewhere else then the play store. other than that it depends on what you want to do with the phone on what apps you want to download. android phones basically have all the same apps as iphones do

I don't think you really need an antivirus unless your phone is rooted. Android is pretty locked down as it is.

I always get my social media apps first like snapchat and Facebook etc.
