"progress icon" appears and disappears

Hello! During the last few days, an "icon" shows up on top of everything, top left corner. I have desktop icons turned off - this black, vertical rectangle with a progress bar appears and disappears. Malwarebytes indicates no problems. The most recent install was ffox developer edition (57, 64-bit). Searches have turned up similar things (for games, comando, or blank squares) - nothing like this, however. Ideas?

Also - please tell me how to share images! (I'll go read the instructions now.)

Hello! I found a post somewhere about AI Suite (2). Even though I rebooted several times (with no change), I tried the suggestion to close AI Suite 3 (the version I have) and relaunch. So far, so good. No sign of the mystery rectangle yet! Thanks...

Uh oh - spoke too soon. It just showed up again. Let's see if I can add this video capture. Nevermind! It's only 10 seconds. Not worth making a youtube account for that...
