I have a pioneer pdp 5000ex plasma tv its old now but over 5 grand when released i have set custom resolution to 2k/4k/5k though states 1080p(not dsr)nvidia 1070gtx states progressive. What is the difrence between progressive and negative resolutions and could i damage the tv by haveing higher resolutions thanks mark

Solution
Progressive scan paints the entire picture on the screen at once where as interlaced displays half of the picture and then the other half like 1/60 of a second after. You want progressive.

It won't damage your tv trying to run at a higher resolution than it is built for, it just won't display anything.
