Hello, i would like to hear your honest opinion on this little project i have... have in mind that this is just sort of a first look at it, and i should start exact project at the end of the week.
its been done before. just one example (ignore the prices he lists as they seem excessive since car radiators can go for $45) http://www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-discussion-1000004/watercooling-done-with-a-car-radiator-31151569/
however it is NOT ideal to use one large radiator in that manner. it would be better to use two smaller radiators. they dont need to be for pc components but you'd have to rig up custom mounting brackets for fans, mounting and have to use adapters for wc fittings. small radiators such as this http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a325/Ghia109/KGrHqZiIE6934vB4eBOwmJiWUg60_1.jpg sort of size would work better since you can put them in a better flow layout for cooling such as:
Yeah, something like that, i had a different idea but it wasnt really good for water cooling, it had air cooling written all over it XD ( it looked like a tube ), i will yet make some adjustments...
I'd probably move the power and fan control away from the center of the desk and use that space for a keyboard and mouse tray. Where I would go from there would include touch-screen monitors on the left and right sections, extenuation arms and control modules (joysticks), and probably upgrade to a quad-monitor center display.
if you will be air cooling the internals using fans it would be ideal if you compartmentalized the sections.
in other words... fans would be more effective moving the air in a smaller space then they would with the whole interior open.

"thick" computer desks are not comfortable to sit at. having a a thick desk either pushes your arms and elbows up into unergonomic positions or extremely limits legroom.
my own computer desk is only about 5-6" thick and falls into this category. less than ideal and not suggested. (though my own desk was free so i can not complain much)
it would be much preferred to have a shallow section where you sit and then deeper pockets on either side (out of leg swing range so you dont bump yourself.. in fact making angled sections here might work well) as this will allow the desk to better fit ergonomics

i agree with moving the power button. this would be far too easy to hit accidentally. instead of a big "on" switch" i'd probably go for more of a military style toggle switch or at least a cover over the switch to prevent accidental pressing such as http://pic01.uxsight.com/photo_new/20120721/c/ux_a12072100ux0248_ux_c.jpg

the fan controller would be more ideal embedded into the top of your desk or in any more accessable place. where you have it located is not very ideal.

if you're planning on multi monitor you might want to think about having a monitor mount arm.
Yeah, i am still taking advices and yeah i will need to move controllers i am also thinking of taking one 2 units box from a cluster case, to strap it, edit it and to put it there, they are really cheep, and u i would get hard drive slots that are really expensive to get any other way:
end to edit the casing part to my needs... and by doing that i would get the middle section somewhat smaller and better for sitting, and i would get 6 hot swap disk slots
Heya guys, me again, i was woundering, i cant find any store that sells 360 rads for less than 150e here in serbia, and anything else is either w/o shiping possibilities, or the price of shiping is more expensive than the item it self 🙁 ... i came to an idea to use something like, i managed to find it with the fins that i like XD
did i fail to mention that it is like 20e new
I dont know if it would be an overkill but i would do custom mounting for fans etc, etc, and would proly put it inside a desk leg with one side open and the other side with holes for 140mm fans..

CPU->RAD->GPU->RAD->RES->PUMP or similar or if running sli gpu adding in a cpu next to the cpu. temps would be much lower then everything running at once.
i cant say how well the cooling performance of car radiators will be though compared with pc radiators.
Thanks allot man, if i could find something that isnt freakishly dense, smaller rads are usually really dense... i understood what you mean by the last thing, and i am runing cross fire... and i was thinking GPU1 > RAD1 > CPU > GPU2 > RAD2 > RES > PUMP
