Proof that AMD is better than Intel when it comes to gaming?

I have recently(this year) tried 2 different processors with basically the same hardware(same graphics card at least) and when it comes to differences in the same games' FPS these processors were quite similar, presenting no significant difference.

The processors in question:

-Intel i3 4130 and -AMD Phenom II X4 945

The graphics card remained the same: -nVIDIA GT430 1GB DDR3

I have been playing(mostly) the same games and the FPS remained practically the same(slight disadvantage on the AMD), despite my current processor(AMD) being from 2009 and the i3 from 2013 and also now I have half the RAM(4GB), despite all this the only significant difference I noticed consistently between the 2 processors was the loading times: the i3 was significantly faster.

Is this a sort of proof that AMD for gaming at least is better than Intel?

Unfortunately, even AMD admits that their CPU's for the past 5 to 7 years (whenever they released Bulldozer), have been very weak when compared to Intel. The only chance AMD has had to keep up with Intel has been on things like multithreaded video editing, and WinRAR, 7Zip, and things that could use 6 or 8 cores at once.

Everything else was faster on Intel. I finally made the move back to Intel last year after almost 15 years of always owning AMD. The gap in performance in gaming was just insane. I got a i5-4670k, have not overclocked it, and it is just so much faster than my old AMD system, it is a night and day difference.

I am a firm believer that we need multiple companies producing CPU's and GPU's to keep the industry healthy. So I tend to buy AMD when they are competitive. But they have not been for far too long now. Perhaps, next year, with their new Zen CPU, they can get back in the game. On the GPU side, we must have competition as well. And AMD is going to need to hit some major home runs on graphics cards next year. And I think they will. But we must keep some serious competition between AMD and Nvidia, as Intel is not a real competitor in graphics, and may never be. And if we were to end up with only 1 company making CPU's or GPU's, the computer industry would stagnate and die.

Your title is misleading, you didn't proof AMD is better than Intel.
You have a example of Phenom II X4 945 is better than i3 4130

And you didn't said which games.

Only proof is that a old higher end AMD cpu is better then today lower end Intel cpu

Next test should be 10 years old ferrari is faster than chevy spark.

Games that can effectively utilize all four threads will run well on a Phenom II x4 945, pretty similarly to most of Intel's current i3s. Games that don't scale well will not run nearly as well unless you are GPU-bottlenecked, which wouldn't be surprising with a GT 430 DDR3.

Some of the games I've used as benchmarks are Max Payne 3, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Battlefield 3 and Tomb Raider 2013. Those have now practically the same FPS as before with the i3.

An exception where the i3 got significantly better FPS was in a racing simulator called Assetto Corsa.

See following link to Techspot.com for reviews of games which includes CPU performance results. You can ignore Metal Gear Solid V since it does not have any CPU benchmarks. You should ignore Batman Arkham Knight because the benchmarking was done when the game was released and there were so many complaints about severe performance issues that Warner Bros. stopped selling the game. I think it was re-released last month; 3 months after it was first released.

How old are your staff, because one of them just commented on my thread and called me a noob and then deleted the thread? The fuck...

Like nearly all other public forums, the vast majority of moderators are not employees (i.e. not staff). As far as I know only the community manager is an actual employee of THG (Purch is the parent company) and he generally does not get directly involved in moderating the forum. He provides guidance to volunteer moderators.

Sorry about your experience. Hopefully that moderator will not be so quick to be dismissive next time.

You must admit it though.. your original reply was a pretty noob reply. 😉
it was a bit like (an apologies.. don't know much about cars) someone asking about a ford Fiesta Vs a Vauxhall Corsa
and you coming back with "yes.. but check out the Ford Mustang Vs the Vauxhall (whatever their top range is)
Its a totally crap and irrelevant comparison. And while technically correct - since it is still comparing Intel with AMD.. it was very short sighted and did deserve some ridicule
Just saying :)

As I stated in another thread (link below), Passmark does not show "real world" performance and you cannot rely on a single benchmark to determine how well a CPU will perform in games. For that you actually need to look at game benchmarks that basically uses the same hardware (like the GPU) when comparing different CPUs. Which I have provided in my response to your other post.
