Hey guys, recently had to replace the RAM in my desktop. My previous sticks had developed some errors and I was getting constant crashes. My question is how should I properly dispose of my old RAM sticks? I don't want to just toss them since I know they most likely contain some hazardous materials. Suggestions? Also, since i'm on the topic, I have an old, cracked up laptop screen (LCD I believe) and want to get rid of it as well. Any suggestions are very much welcomed.

Thanks!

Find your nearest recycling center and bring it to them, both the RAM and the monitor.

I work for a company that operates directly over a recycling center, they literally have pallets of old electronics like CRT monitors, cases, keyboards, etc.

Check your town's webpage for recycling options. They usually have instructions on where to bring them at the nearest recycling center, or a number to call for pickup.

are the recycling centers run by local authority? or private companies? in the usa

just curious for future reference

and yes i always dispose of old electronics properly--though if they still work i give them away to people who need them

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'll head over to my local Best Buy tonight after work and if that doesn't work I'll look up some local recycling facilities. I always try to dispose of things properly when I can. There's enough waste already.

More or less, yeah. Haha. There's federal law, state law, and local law. It gets pretty stupid

you are welcome

and yes we certainly do need more recycling it only takes a bit of time and effort to do it

lol can see that could get very confusing if you cross from one state or county to another
