Hello everyone , i have very little knowledge about hard drives , so i wanted to enlighten me in few things.

I have 2 hard drives:

  • 1 HDD 200 GB , with windows installed.

1 HDD 700 GB , with 2 partitions , one partition of 400 GB with linux installed and the rest 300 GB is for both os' .

What I want to do is to buy an ssd hard drive of 240 GB and :

  • Install a linux based distro on SSD (probably kubuntu) as my primary OS. Note that I will install Virtual Box to support many oses , too.

Have the other 2 HDDs properly formatted ( NTFS , etc...) and empty for ordinary usage.

So , what are the steps that I should follow , after I place the ssd ,in order to set up the above data storage scheme ?

thanks !

Solution
I would install SSD as only drive, install OS on it and than install second and consequent drives for any use and any format you want.
