I've heard over the years and this is before I ever even owned an SSD, that you have to be worried about filling it up to the max capacity, in order to keep it running smoothly and extend the life of the SSD. Also, I was told not to constantly uninstall or re-install games, application, etc, as that degrades the drive even quicker. I have about 152GB's left on my brand new Kingston 240GB SSD, that which of two games and the OS take up the majority. Now, as I play and beat these games, I am planning on installing them and making room for the new ones to come, repeating the process as I go. These games are upwards of 25-40GB's each, which is a lot of data to keep uninstalling and re-installing.

Main question is: Should I be worried about filling it up the the max capacity and uninstalling or re-installing apps, games, etc?

Thank you! :)

Solution
IMO you should not be worried about what you are doing. To degrade the life of the SSD by writing data to it would take an extremely large amount of writes, especially on the newer drives.

That's good enough for me, all I needed to hear, 😀. Thanks a lot, burdenbound!

"Just don't fill it up. That WILL affect."

I'll heed those words! I have about 105-111GB left on my 240GB SSD, so I think I'm going to keep it there for now.

Thanks for all the tips, :)!

After uninstalling and installing new games, on and off, would it be wise to system defrag your SSD, or just leave it be? As far as I know and hear, defraging an SSD is a BIG NO NO.

Thanks,
Steve.

No so much of a 'no no', just not really needed. Maybe once a year. Not once a week like you'd do with a conventional spinning drive.
