Proscan PLT8235G Tablet SoC

Hello Everyone,

I bought this tablet for a super cheap price of only $33 used on Ebay. I have a week till it arrives but I am curious about the hardware inside. I know for sure that its got an ARMv7 Cortex A9 dual-core CPU clocked at 1.5Ghz, and relatively sure it uses Mali-400 graphics. Other info I have from this PDF:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/PRO_PLT8235G_EN.PDF

Says it should have a decent sized battery, relatively low resolution screen, yet good sized, and 1GB of DDR3. The rest of the info I have had more trouble finding out since this doesn't seem to have been a popular tablet. I've heard it has Android 4.0+ but different sources say different things, possible from the firmware update. I've heard it comes with an Mali-400MP4, but other sources say Mali-400MP2. I've heard it comes with 4MB L2 cache, and the SoC is a Rockchip design from one source but cannot verify which SoC or any other details.

Long story short if anyone has seen or had one of these and knows I would appreciate it. Or if you have just had a RockChip SoC which has 4MB L2 that might help colaborate the other details.

Didn't get any responses for this, but I now have the tablet so I wanted to post what the hardware inside the tablet is, encase someone else goes to buy one.Using a few different software tools that check the hardware, this is what I have found out.

The SoC is an Amlogic product, AML8726-M6. Also called Amlogic MX some times. Its a little old by today's standards, it has a dual-core ARMv7 Cortex-a9 CPU with 512KB cache per core. Its rated to go as fast as 1.5Ghz but the system so far seems to run only at 1.2Ghz, possible because the governor is locked into Conservative mode and I have yet to root it.

The GPU is a pretty basic Mali-400MP2. Can't get a reading on the clock speed for the GPU, but one source I read said about 300Mhz was typically used for this SoC. The display is nice and big which makes this perfect for what I wanted it for. I wanted it pretty much as a portable movie player with a longer battery life than my laptop. For that the screen is perfect, its not high definition but for watching most TV shows and movies it works well. Its higher than any CRT TV so thats about where it needed to be. The 1GB of RAM keeps things running well, doesn't seem to hold the tablet back. The last major comment for the hardware would be that the wifi isn't very good at picking up compared to similar devices like my phone, and its a little slow, but I don't plan to use the wifi much anyways. Oh and the speaker is pretty quiet doesn't sound good but thats also not such an issue, as in a quiet area its sufficient and if I'm in public or something I want to wear headphones anyways.

In terms of performance and use, most things are quiet responsive. Moving around, and using most programs happen right away whenever you do something. Only the play store is slow and that is as a result of the wifi issue I mentioned before. The touch screen picks up well and has no problems with that. I tried running some emulators and PPSSPP on one game only managed about 23fps so its not quite playable, but a different game worked fine at 60FPS. Using ClasssicBoy I played some Playstation 1 games and those run perfect.

So overall I'm real happy with the tablet, for $34 I don't think I could of got a better deal on a cheap one. If you are looking to buy one and find it at a low cost I don't really think you could go wrong.
