There are relatively inexpensive micro ATX EVGA X58 boards available on EVGAs site, however, I was seeking some insight on the prospects of buying a refurbished board. Has anyone had some luck with them? What usually is the problem with bad boards?

Thanks

Solution
Operator error or ram issues that the operator can't fix. If evga will give you at least a 90 day warranty, then those boards may work fine. Be sure to ask for a backplate for your case.

Ah, that sounds reassuring.
I'm curious what the significance of acquiring a backplate is. Ease of setup? Or is it something more important?

Agh, dunno why I thought you meant a removable motherboard tray, part names fail me. And yes, it would be awful to not have a backplate on a computer for a multitude of reasons. I wouldn't have thought about the possibility of that part not being included.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations.
