Question Proxy.

Seem to be having this strange thing on my pc's lately where the internet is only working if windows 10 network & internet settings detect settings automatically for proxy is not enabled.

Any advice, Or do we just go with it like this, does not seem to be a problem otherwise, Might be worth looking into why this is. Windows 10 Home 64bit 20H2.

if you are not using a proxy, then having it turned on of course breaks your connection. it will be looking for a proxy server that does not exist.

so it only working when it is turned off, is not a problem, but rather how it should be.

Ok, I thought it should be set to enabled, because that's how it has always worked, strange that its the opposite now, don't you also just wonder why?

Just had an internet disconnect, and just for the fun of it I enable this setting again and now for the 1st time in months I'm connected with it enabled on auto just as we are talking about this.

never even crossed my radar. if i needed to use a proxy, i'd set it up. otherwise, i'd ignore the setting.

too many other things to focus on rather than a setting that i have used maybe twice in my life. which ever works for you, then use that setting. then move on and enjoy using the pc rather tan stressing over little things like this

Well, strange as it might be and if its a setting that is overlooked quite often because if you want a proxy, you'd set it up obviously but I was forced to be concerned with this.

The internet is only fully functioning if windows network & internet settings: detect settings automatically for proxy is not enabled. (best used when it was enabled and the browser used had some sort of message about not being able to connect you to your desired web page because of widows default proxy settings)
