HP 690c, I had to replace my M/B, when I started the PC I got the “CMOS” error which quickly changed to a blue box in the middle of the screen with the message (see pict). I didn’t do anything just left it then it must have gone to sleep or shut off. The M/B did come with a battery but I will install a new one just in case. If that isn’t the issue do I need to go into the BIOS & correct what it says is missing, if so how do I do that? Always had trouble getting into the BIOS on this PC.

Sorry I could not figure out how to import, upload or whatever to my post.

Note: Thmessage below is a Blue (typical Win format) background with white print and a white border around the square.

PS: How do you upload into Toms forum’s, never had a problem with this on any site before.

Your windows activation was tied to the bios. Hopefully you will just need to reactivate otherwise you can call microsoft and explain the mainboard was replace as a repair and see if they will give you another activation. If not you can purchase a new activation or just run unactivated like alot of us.
