my ps2 keyboard is not working . it flickers when i start the pc but after that it is off. I read the previous thread about this problem here, and I edited regedit to change the start value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt to 1 but the problem is still there. It was working unitl I plugged in a USB HD, when I removed the HD the keyboard stopped working

Have you check the pin of PS/2 keyboard connectors is bent?

There are hardware conflict, try to check it in device manager, then open the keyboard check if it HID keyboard, then right click on it, then click properties. Check there if there are any changes or try to uninstall the driver by clicking unisntall, lets try if it will isolate the problem. After it restart your computer, then observe if it will install again the driver. Do not insert first your usb hd, lets say if that usb keyboard will function again. If this will not solve might be that signal keyboard of your keyboard is damage. Check by opening the keyboard and use a vom and check the resistance or connection of the signal wire.

I uninstalled the PS/2 keyboard driver, but after a reboot it was back in the device manager.
I noticed that when I plug in the keyboard, it does not add a PS/2 keyboard but a HID keyboard in the device manager.
When I plug the keyboard in, windows makes the usual sound it does when you connect a device, and when I unplug it it makes the device disconnected sound.
Seems the OS recognizes that there is a device plugged in, but it doesn't work.

I appreciate your help, but you seem to insist that there is a problem with my keyboard.
As I said it was working perfectly before I unplugged the USB HD. Also, when I connect the keyboard, the 3 lights blink, so I really believe there is no hardware problem.

Sorry for late reply, it is important to test it in another computer. If you can bring it in where you bought your keyboard or computer bring it there so that you can test it also. I can't sited whether the problem is the OS settings or the hardware. We can identify it by testing it in another computer if it will working fine.
