Hi all,

I have an old Logitech keyboard I would like to use that was part of a joblot I bought. Unfortunately the PS/2 connector was damaged and the keyboard did not work. I have a cable to use from a tatty HP KB-0316 keyboard, but just to make things difficult the wiring colours are different, as follows:

Logitech keyboard has green, red, white and yellow + a ground.
HP keyboard has yellow, red, brown and grey + a ground.

Unfortunately having searched google numerous times I've not turned up much. I found a wiring diagram for a Dell keyboard, which had the same colours as the Logitech (I'm sure quite alot of Dell keyboards and mice were actually made by Logitech). Red is +5v, white is ground, yellow is +data and green is +clk.

I used a multimeter on the donor cable from the HP and found that the yellow appeared to be +clk, grey is ground, red is +data and brown is +5v. However I'm not sure this is correct and the best I've had so far is the caps lock light on and that's it!

I've swapped a couple of wires, but I don't want to damage the PCB and components. Does anybody have any ideas what should be matched to what, as I may just call it a day on this one. Of course I could convert to USB, but I wanted to keep it old skool!

Thanks

First of all.. Respect!
If you are ready to shift towards USB there is a solution here:

Hello, thank you for your fast response!

Well I've drawn a line under this one, as it just refuses to work. The best I've had is a caps lock light, and on one occasion all 3 lights came on and stayed on. I tried swapping what I believed to be the DATA and CLK wires around, with no difference in results (on the PS/2 cable). I then attempted a conversion to USB and sadly it was just the caps lock again!

It's possible that either the PCB/components were faulty to begin with, or perhaps I have finished it off with incorrect wiring positions! Nevertheless, I'm giving up on this one, which is a shame as it's in great condition. I could purchase another one and pinch the PCB from that, but it defeats the point a bit.

Anyway, thanks for your input!
