I have a PIII 300W P/S and I was told that I could use it to supply a PIV M/B, if I obtained a 4pin adapter/converter lead/plug to connect to one of the axillary/spare 12/5V 4 lead plugs. (PIV M/B require the ATX supply plug/lead plus the 4Pin 12/5V supply plug/lead).

Is this correct and is the Aux 4pin plug/lead power the same specs as the standard spare 4pin flat supply plug/lead.

Thanks,

No, the ATX12v connector has 2 12v and 2 ground pins. The adapter tries to make due with the 1 12v wire from a standard 4-pin molex.
